We are happy to unveil today Path to Olympus, a new exclusive feature on GodofWar.com.

So what is it?

In short, it’s a primer to get you prepared for March 16th when Kratos will storm retailers. Kratos has come a long way since his days as Captain of the Spartan Army and the Path to Olympus episodes will take you through some of his most prolific and some of his darkest moments while providing the back story leading up the beginning of God of War III.

Who is it for?

This feature is for you if-

1. You are a new player and want to learn what all this Kratos mania is about.

2. For gamers who played the games but are scratching their head trying to remember who Kratos killed, who has killed Kratos and everything in between.

3. And lastly for the hardcore that want to experience once again some of Kratos’s most exciting and brutal moments, before plunging into God of War III.

What to expect-

We will be releasing new content leading up to launch that will quickly get you up to speed on the story and prepare you to take control of Kratos as he catapults towards his destiny in God of War III.

God of War Blood and Metal EP Available Now!

We are pleased to announce today the release of God of War III Blood & Metal EP!

To kick things off head to the music section at and check out the music video for Trivium's "Shattering The Skies Above!"

The video, filmed during the recording sessions for the God Of War 3 inspired track gives an intimate look into the creation of the song. Trivium’s singer Matt Heafy says about the song and how it relates to the game, “Metal is that imagery, metal is that grandiose thing, that violent energy that the game creates. Our song is inspired by the excitement of being involved with God Of War 3 and it’s inspired by the energy of the game”

God Of War: Blood & Metal is available for sale on March 2nd and God Of War III is available on March 16th.

New Trailer, New GodofWar.com, new Beginning!

As you may have noticed, there has been a recent resurgence of God of War III developments taking place lately. This is definitely no accident, from the release of the merciless “Vengeance” trailer, to the slick new site re-design, to a constant stream of news updates we have planned going forward, everyone is getting amped for March 16th.

As we lead up to quite possibly one of the most exciting launches in video game history, we wanted to pull back the curtain a bit to let the fans know what to expect from GodofWar.com.

Here are some recent announcements-

In June of 2009 a playable demo of God of War III E3 was unveiled to the public. Show goers were shocked by the unprecedented, massive scale of the game, the unbridled, relentless fury of Kratos and the sheer power of the PS3.

Finally one of the most sought after demo’s will finally be available for free for download on the Playstation Network on Feb. 25.

World Premiere of Blood & Metal Trivium Track

Godofwar.com is excited to have the worldwide premiere of Trivium’s new song “Shattering The Skies Above”

The track, inspired by the God Of War series, appears on the soundtrack to God Of War III – “God Of War: Blood & Metal”. The track features Trivium’s signature aggression and intricate guitar work as well as featuring the debut of new drummer Nick Augusto’s blistering beats.

Trivium’s singer, Matt Heafy, notes: “When we were initially asked to write an original song for the game, we were slightly perplexed since we’ve never actually written a track for something other than a Trivium record, but we answered the call as we are fans of the game. Writing the song was a fun experience. We started piecing riffs together on tour and then we really put time into the song when we got home and had the chance to go into the practice space to work on our ideas as a group. This new song captures a certain energy we've been trying to harness on record as well, as it will show all our fans worldwide where Trivium is heading musically in the future.”

The EP will be available at all digital retailers on March 2nd and features 6 brand new songs from metal titans Killswitch Engage, Dream Theater and Opeth as well as newcomers Taking Dawn and Mutiny Within.

District 9 Forged Together With God of War III

God of War Collection ships November 17th, Plan Your Trophy Hunt Now!

Still wondering when you'll be able to get your hands on the God of War Collection?  Well, wait no more.  The God of War Collection has gone gold!  Fans can look forward to playing God of War and God of War II in stunning HD just a couple of weeks from now as the God of War Collection will officially be shipping to a retail store near you on NOVEMBER 17!  Oh wait ... there's more ... we're also here to unveil all of the trophy goodies you have been waiting for!  

To give you the low-down on how the trophies were picked, here is some insight from God of War III Design Director, Todd Papy...

Other than all the visual improvements that we added to the God of War Collection, the most exciting part for me was the opportunity to go back and add in full trophy support for both games.  Not only will the trophies hopefully be an enjoyable way to check your progress through the game, but they will also give the hard-core God of War fans some serious additional bragging rights.  And on a more personal level, the trophies were a really great opportunity for us to share some of our stories and inside jokes from God of War and God of War II.

One of the trophies that I was really happy to finally be able get out there was "Speed of Jason McDonald." At the end of making God of War, the combat designers were doing speed runs of the game, and soon enough, friendly wagers started springing up around the office to see who could post the best time.  Jason McDonald, currently a Sr. Combat Designer on God of War III, blew them all away. He still has, a couple God of War games later, the two dollars in winnings tapped proudly to his computer monitor.

Something very similar happened when we started testing the God of War II trophy "15 Min Fight Scene."  The fight outside the Loom Chamber is one of the more polarizing moments in the game.  A lot of people really enjoyed the long marathon battle, while other's thought it was maybe too tough of a challenge.  This fun vs. frustration became even clearer when the office stopped working on God of War III one afternoon to get together and watch as team member after team member tried to get through the fight in record time.  Judging by the cheering that occurred when the aforementioned Jason McDonald was knocked out of the lead spot, I would say fun won the day.

Another challenging spot that we wanted to highlight with the "You Got the Touch!" trophy was the Spiked Column in Hades from God of War.  After playtesting repeatedly, David Jaffe asked me to tone down the difficulty and make it easier for the final shipped game.  Ironically, even after all that, it wound up being one of the most talked about sections, and not always for the best reasons.  I think one of the problems is that a lot of people try to blast their way through and get it over with as fast as possible.  That's a sure fire way to get Kratos sliced up.  The trick was always taking your time to think about what your next move was going to be.  Throw in a couple deep breaths, and I think a lot of people will be able to make it through without taking damage and earn the trophy.

In the end, all of us hope that you have as much fun earning the trophies as we did designing them.

God of War III E3 2009 Demo Included in God of War Collection

Coming this fall, we are happy to announce to fans that God of War Collection will include the long-awaited God of War III E3 2009 Demo. Each copy of God of War Collection will include a voucher code that can be redeemed through PlayStation Network on the day of purchase. This is your chance to experience God of War III before it hits store shelves March 2010.

Just recently announced on the PS blog, God of War Collection features remastered versions of both God of War and God of War II on a single Blu-ray Disc at full 1280 x 720 resolution with 2x anti-aliased graphics. God of War III coming to the San Deigo Comic Con.

CHAOS IS COMING to the San Diego Comic Con this week! We have a ton of fun stuff planned and wanted to share with you some exciting news about what is going on with Kratos at the big event!

Kratos to Grace Comic Stores Shelves This October!

God Of War®. The comic book series is set to debut this October from DC’s WildStorm imprint. The series will be written by comics legend Marv Wolfman (THE NEW TEEN TITANS, CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS) and cover art by Andy Park. 

The six-issue series will be released on a monthly schedule, leading into the March 2010 release of the highly-anticipated PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) exclusive title, God of War® III.

DEL REY BOOKS ANNOUNCES NOVELS BASED ON THE PLAYSTATION GOD OF WAR® VIDEO GAME SERIES

We are excited to share news of Del Ray's upcoming God of War novels.  The book will be penned by bestselling author Matthew Stover, the man behind such works as the novelization of Return of the Sith to the Acts of Caine series.The first novel, GOD OF WAR, will be written by author Matthew Stover and will release in March 2010.

In the novel GOD OF WAR, Kratos, the game's protagonist, is a great warrior who seeks revenge on the God of War Ares for the deaths of his wife and child. On his journey to Olympus, Kratos must battle great monsters of legend--and fight his own inner demons. Kratos' quest will take him through a world of Greek mythology transformed, in which the familiar legends take on a terrifying new life--from the Aegean, where Kratos will grapple with the Great Hydra, to the depths of Hades, where Kratos will face death itself, to the heights of Mount Olympus. With all the thrilling action that got fans hooked on the game, the novel GOD OF WAR takes us deeper into this fascinating world.

Set your Video Recorder: Replay of God of War III on G4TV's X-Play This Week!

Didn’t have a chance to get a first-hand look at God of War III at E3? Well, you’re in luck. Tune in to G4TV Tuesday, June 23rd at 1 and 8 p.m and Wednesday June 24th at 6:30 PM. (Eastern/Pacific) for X-Play's biggest demo ever (seriously, it goes more than 20 mins!). God of War III’s Game Director, Stig Asmussen, will not only walk us through the entire demo, but provide insight and commentary.

Sony Computer Entertainment America has re-launched the God of War III Website, which features new media content including screens, videos and downloads. Fans of the franchise can now sign up to be a part of the Spartan Army to get first access to exclusive updates and cool content. For those who want to visit previous God of War products Sony has included links to God of War 1, 2 and Chains of Olympus.
