When developing God of War III, a ton of effort went into bringing the dark and twisted world of ancient Greek mythology onto the PS3; something that couldn’t have been done without the talent and hard work of the amazing Art Team here at Santa Monica Studio who spent hours dreaming of new creatures for Kratos to destroy and new places for him to do it in.
Thankfully, the awesome people at Ballistic Publishing created the beautiful‘The Art of God of War III’book so that we could share all our creations from concept to completion.
To celebrate God of War III joining the PS3 Greatest Hits library we wanted to give you, the loyal Spartan Army, a chance to win an exclusive signed copy of one of these fantastic books by showing the God of War team what your ultimate monster would look like!
Starting Friday, March 4th through April 1st, visit the GodofWar.com homepage, fill out the required entry form and upload your submission. At the end of the contest, the development team will judge and select the top three submissions. Prizing for the contest is as follows:

Playtest God of War® : Ghost of Sparta for PSP!

Hey everyone, Eric Koch from Sony Santa Monica here with some awesome news for God of War fans. How would you like to be among the first to try the Kratos’ latest adventure on the PSP in the newly announced God of War: Ghost of Sparta!
Response to the announcement for the new game was so great that we thought it would be cool to offer some of the most hardcore God of War fans a chance to come in and playtest the new game before anyone else.
We are looking for fans of the series to come in and give us an hour of their time and let us know what you think! We need participants this Thursday, May 27th from the following times:
Session 1: 11:00AM – 12:00PM
Session 2: 1:00PM – 2:00PM
Requirements for the Playtest are as follows:
* Be at least 18 years or older.
* Be willing to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement to keep what you see a secret until further notice.
* Have played the God of War franchise and be familiar with its awesomeness.
* Live in the LA area with reliable transportation to the playtest.
As a gift from the Gods, we will bestow upon some of our latest PSP titles for your time and effort.

For the few of you out there who still haven’t gotten your hands on a copy of God of War III, we wanted to share with you a few comments from the avalanche of praise that has been building up ever since critics got a chance to play the game.

God of War III Patch

First off, we'd like to thank the fans and media for the incredible reception that God of War III has received. As you may be aware, some customers have had issues with their wireless controllers while playing God of War III. In some cases this has resulted in difficulty opening chests (holding down R1) or jumping/gliding (holding down X). The problem has occurred randomly in environments where there are multiple Wi-Fi devices within range of the PlayStation 3. It is not an issue with the PS3 system, but an issue with reading data coming from the wireless controller. We take a great deal of pride in the smooth responsiveness of God of War III, therefore I’m pleased to report that we’ve taken appropriate steps to fix this problem. We've released a minor patch today in North America and Europe to address this issue and we will follow up with the same patch early next week for our customers in Japan, Korea, and Asia. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused. Thank you again for continuing to support God of War.

As you may be aware, some customers have been unable to download the God of War Trilogy soundtrack and the God of War: Blood & Metal extended play, both of which are part of the God of War III Ultimate Edition. We have identified that this problem is being caused by the extremely high number of consumers visiting GodofWar.com during the past 24 hours due to the launch of God of War III this week. I’m pleased to report that we’ve taken appropriate steps to ensure that the site is now running smoothly and will continue to do so moving forward. The great news for fans is that those who purchased the God of War Ultimate Edition will be able to download their content now by heading to http://www.godofwar.com/music/ and redeeming your voucher codes to experience some amazing heavy metal tracks and the monumental musical score.
Additionally, fans who pre-ordered God of War III at select retailers can head on over to http://www.godofwar.com/Skin/index.htm to grab their exclusive PS3 skins. God of War Storyline
Set in the dark world of ancient Greek mythology, players take on the role of Kratos, a Spartan warrior. So what is it?
In short, it’s a primer to get you prepared for March 16th when Kratos will storm retailers. Kratos has come a long way since his days as Captain of the Spartan Army and the Path to Olympus episodes will take you through some of his most prolific and some of his darkest moments while providing the back story leading up the beginning of God of War III.
Who is it for?

We are pleased to announce today the release of God of War III Blood & Metal EP!
To kick things off head to the music section at and check out the music video for Trivium's "Shattering The Skies Above!"
The video, filmed during the recording sessions for the God Of War 3 inspired track gives an intimate look into the creation of the song. Trivium’s singer Matt Heafy says about the song and how it relates to the game, “Metal is that imagery, metal is that grandiose thing, that violent energy that the game creates. Our song is inspired by the excitement of being involved with God Of War 3 and it’s inspired by the energy of the game”

As you may have noticed, there has been a recent resurgence of God of War III developments taking place lately. This is definitely no accident, from the release of the merciless “Vengeance” trailer, to the slick new site re-design, to a constant stream of news updates we have planned going forward, everyone is getting amped for March 16th.
As we lead up to quite possibly one of the most exciting launches in video game history, we wanted to pull back the curtain a bit to let the fans know what to expect from GodofWar.com.

World Premiere of Blood & Metal Trivium Track

Godofwar.com is excited to have the worldwide premiere of Trivium’s new song “Shattering The Skies Above”
The track, inspired by the God Of War series, appears on the soundtrack to God Of War III – “God Of War: Blood & Metal”. The track features Trivium’s signature aggression and intricate guitar work as well as featuring the debut of new drummer Nick Augusto’s blistering beats.
Trivium’s singer, Matt Heafy, notes: “When we were initially asked to write an original song for the game, we were slightly perplexed since we’ve never actually written a track for something other than a Trivium record, but we answered the call as we are fans of the game. Writing the song was a fun experience. We started piecing riffs together on tour and then we really put time into the song when we got home and had the chance to go into the practice space to work on our ideas as a group. This new song captures a certain energy we've been trying to harness on record as well, as it will show all our fans worldwide where Trivium is heading musically in the future.”
The EP will be available at all digital retailers on March 2nd and features 6 brand new songs from metal titans Killswitch Engage, Dream Theater and Opeth as well as newcomers Taking Dawn and Mutiny Within.

Still wondering when you'll be able to get your hands on the God of War Collection? Well, wait no more. The God of War Collection has gone gold! Fans can look forward to playing God of War and God of War II in stunning HD just a couple of weeks from now as the God of War Collection will officially be shipping to a retail store near you on NOVEMBER 17! Oh wait ... there's more ... we're also here to unveil all of the trophy goodies you have been waiting for!
To give you the low-down on how the trophies were picked, here is some insight from God of War III Design Director, Todd Papy...
Other than all the visual improvements that we added to the God of War Collection, the most exciting part for me was the opportunity to go back and add in full trophy support for both games. Not only will the trophies hopefully be an enjoyable way to check your progress through the game, but they will also give the hard-core God of War fans some serious additional bragging rights. And on a more personal level, the trophies were a really great opportunity for us to share some of our stories and inside jokes from God of War and God of War II.
One of the trophies that I was really happy to finally be able get out there was "Speed of Jason McDonald." At the end of making God of War, the combat designers were doing speed runs of the game, and soon enough, friendly wagers started springing up around the office to see who could post the best time. Jason McDonald, currently a Sr. Combat Designer on God of War III, blew them all away. He still has, a couple God of War games later, the two dollars in winnings tapped proudly to his computer monitor.
Something very similar happened when we started testing the God of War II trophy "15 Min Fight Scene." The fight outside the Loom Chamber is one of the more polarizing moments in the game. A lot of people really enjoyed the long marathon battle, while other's thought it was maybe too tough of a challenge. This fun vs. frustration became even clearer when the office stopped working on God of War III one afternoon to get together and watch as team member after team member tried to get through the fight in record time. Judging by the cheering that occurred when the aforementioned Jason McDonald was knocked out of the lead spot, I would say fun won the day.
Another challenging spot that we wanted to highlight with the "You Got the Touch!" trophy was the Spiked Column in Hades from God of War. After playtesting repeatedly, David Jaffe asked me to tone down the difficulty and make it easier for the final shipped game. Ironically, even after all that, it wound up being one of the most talked about sections, and not always for the best reasons. I think one of the problems is that a lot of people try to blast their way through and get it over with as fast as possible. That's a sure fire way to get Kratos sliced up. The trick was always taking your time to think about what your next move was going to be. Throw in a couple deep breaths, and I think a lot of people will be able to make it through without taking damage and earn the trophy.
In the end, all of us hope that you have as much fun earning the trophies as we did designing them.

God of War III E3 2009 Demo Included in God of War Collection

Coming this fall, we are happy to announce to fans that God of War Collection will include the long-awaited God of War III E3 2009 Demo. Each copy of God of War Collection will include a voucher code that can be redeemed through PlayStation Network on the day of purchase. This is your chance to experience God of War III before it hits store shelves March 2010.
Just recently announced on the PS blog, God of War Collection features remastered versions of both God of War and God of War II on a single Blu-ray Disc at full 1280 x 720 resolution with 2x anti-aliased graphics. Didn’t have a chance to get a first-hand look at God of War III at E3? Well, you’re in luck. Tune in to G4TV Tuesday, June 23rd at 1 and 8 p.m and Wednesday June 24th at 6:30 PM. (Eastern/Pacific) for X-Play's biggest demo ever (seriously, it goes more than 20 mins!). God of War III’s Game Director, Stig Asmussen, will not only walk us through the entire demo, but provide insight and commentary.

God of War Site Re-launches with new content and community areas

Sony Computer Entertainment America has re-launched the God of War III Website, which features new media content including screens, videos and downloads. Fans of the franchise can now sign up to be a part of the Spartan Army to get first access to exclusive updates and cool content. For those who want to visit previous God of War products Sony has included links to God of War 1, 2 and Chains of Olympus.
